Melissa Monroe, Ph.D., NCC, ASDCS, LPC, LMHC

Dr. Melissa Monroe specializes in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across the lifespan. She holds a Ph.D. in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior, is a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS), and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Oregon.

Dr. Monroe has devoted her career to serving the IDD community in a variety of roles, including direct support work in medical and behavioral group homes, more than five years as a Multnomah County Developmental Disabilities Services Division Case Manager/Service Coordinator, and as a therapist within Portland Public Schools at the Pioneer Special School Program and the Social Emotional Skills classroom at Lincoln High School.

Her therapeutic approach emphasizes clear communication, collaborative problem-solving, and the development of coping skills that strengthen emotional regulation and self-management. Dr. Monroe primarily utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and incorporates dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) techniques, alongside training in Collaborative Problem Solving and Restorative Justice practices.

She is committed to providing affirming, accessible, and practical support that helps individuals build confidence, autonomy, and meaningful skills for daily life.
